We have a seniors' programme with many and varied activities which include monthly outings to places of interest,
parks, and beaches as well as bus trips to some country towns. The emphasis of our
outings is fellowship, love and care for one another. In addition to these outings,
we also have interest groups such as quilting, arts and crafts.
Our seniors' group has adopted a theme from Ecclesiastes 5:20 ‘For he will not often
consider the years of his life, because God keeps him occupied with the gladness
of his heart’. We see the reality of this theme in practice, with many folk in their
mid 80s and two in their 90s who attend all our outings come ‘rain, hail or shine’!
In August, the seniors are all involved in ‘Devonshire Tea in the Park’ activities
in our nearby town of Samford. This annual event is hosted by Brisbane Christian
Fellowship as part of the national celebration of Seniors' Week and many seniors
from the local area enjoy attending.
At this event, the various interest groups display their wares and the younger folk
of the congregation serve refreshments, provide games and entertain with singing
and music.
